Role Overview

The Storekeeper is a key part of the hotel’s operational support system, responsible for managing inventory efficiently and ensuring the smooth distribution of goods to all hotel outlets. From food and beverage supplies to housekeeping and equipment materials, this role ensures every department receives what it needs, when it needs it. Accuracy, organization, and adherence to hygiene standards are essential to maintaining the hotel’s high operational standards.

Working closely with the purchasing, receiving, and cost control teams, the Storekeeper ensures that stock records are updated, deliveries are verified, and storage procedures meet both hotel and regulatory guidelines.


Main Responsibilities

Stock Handling & Documentation

  • Maintain proper stock levels according to approved par levels.

  • Raise purchase requests based on stock movement and upcoming needs.

  • Verify received items against purchase orders and report discrepancies.

  • Monitor overdue or undelivered items with the purchasing team.

Storage & Organization

  • Arrange goods on shelves or pallets by category and maintain FIFO (First In, First Out) practices.

  • Remove unnecessary packaging before shelving items.

  • Ensure all perishables and temperature-sensitive items are stored correctly.

  • Keep store areas clean, well-organized, and compliant with hygiene standards.

Issuing & Requisition Processing

  • Release stock to hotel departments upon receiving approved requisitions.

  • Update, modify, and process requisition documents as required.

  • Handle urgent/inter-department requests, especially for special events or functions.

  • Ensure all daily store transactions are posted without delay.

Quality Control & Compliance

  • Assist cost control during monthly and annual inventory checks.

  • Monitor product expiry dates and adhere to Dubai Municipality guidelines.

  • Prepare monthly reports identifying slow-moving, non-moving, and short-expiry items.

  • Follow HACCP principles and comply with all hygiene and food safety rules.

  • Report breakages, shortages, or damaged goods immediately.


Required Skills and Experience

Candidates should possess the following:

  • Previous experience in storekeeping or inventory roles, ideally within the hospitality sector.

  • Knowledge of iScala inventory systems (preferred but not mandatory).

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Understanding of HACCP and Dubai Municipality hygiene standards.

  • Ability to coordinate with multiple departments efficiently.

  • Competence in preparing inventory reports and supporting stock-taking activities.

  • Good communication skills and a collaborative working style.

  • Basic computer skills for stock and data entry tasks.
