Overview of the Position
The Load Master is responsible for ensuring that every cargo flight operates smoothly and safely. This role requires meticulous planning prior to departure, close coordination with ground teams at all operational points, and hands-on supervision during aircraft loading and unloading. The Load Master also travels with the aircraft during scheduled and charter flights to monitor all ground-handling activities.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
Pre-Flight Planning

Confirm all necessary ground-handling arrangements at origin, transit, and destination points.

Review airport requirements, load specifications, and ensure compliance with Emirates procedures.

Verify that cargo build-up meets safety and operational standards.
Coordination with Ground Handling Teams

Guide Ground Handling Agents (GHA) to optimize aircraft load distribution.

Prepare and issue loading instructions promptly to avoid delays.
-
Supervise safe unloading of the aircraft upon arrival.

Monitor handling of temperature-sensitive and pharmaceutical shipments in line with EU GDP guidelines.
Weight & Balance Management

Prepare accurate weight and balance documents, including trim sheets.

Provide the Pilot in Command with all load-related information.
-
Ensure correct issuance of loading and unloading orders.
Operational Performance
-
Maintain strict oversight of on-time departures.
-
Coordinate with flight crew and hotel teams during potential delays to manage duty-time limitations.

Maintain professional contact with maintenance staff, airport authorities, and GHAs.
Safety, Compliance & Special Cargo

Check the serviceability of aircraft loading systems and arrange repairs when required.

Manage loading requirements for special cargo, including live animals (AVI).

Conduct aircraft security searches according to the Flight Operations Manual.

Handle Dangerous Goods (DG) matters, inspections, and ensure proper documentation.

Verify all permits and special clearances for restricted cargo.
Candidate Requirements
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

Minimum 5 years’ experience in cargo, airline, or ground-handling operations.

Completion of 12 years of education or equivalent.

Special Cargo Handling (IATA LAR)

Strong understanding of global customs, immigration, and aviation security standards.

Proven knowledge and experience with Good Distribution Practice (GDP).

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
