As a Store Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting daily store and logistics activities. Working under the supervision of the Storeman and Logistics Officer, you will help ensure that materials, spare parts, and sensitive items are received, stored, and issued accurately while maintaining strict compliance with safety and quality standards. This position contributes directly to smooth railway operations and overall operational efficiency.
Role Overview
The Store Assistant supports warehouse and store functions by assisting with inventory handling, documentation, and housekeeping activities. The role requires attention to detail, physical fitness, and the ability to follow structured procedures in a multicultural work environment. You may also be required to support cross-site logistics activities involving both internal and external storage locations.
Key Responsibilities
Receiving and Inspection

Assist in unloading and inspecting incoming goods including spare parts, HAZMAT materials, and petroleum, liquids, and oils (POL)

Verify quantities and quality against purchase orders and delivery notes

Report damages, shortages, or discrepancies to the Logistics Team immediately
Storage and Organization

Ensure proper labeling, racking, and placement of materials

Maintain organized and accessible storage systems

Follow FIFO (First-In, First-Out) inventory rotation procedures
Issuing and Dispatch

Issue materials against authorized requisitions

Prepare items for dispatch with correct documentation

Support packaging and safe transport of goods
Inventory Control and Support

Update stock records in ERP systems such as Oracle under supervision

Assist with cycle counts, stock reconciliation, and audits

Monitor inventory levels and notify supervisors of critical shortages
Safety, Compliance, and Housekeeping
Safety is a top priority at Etihad Rail. Store Assistants must strictly follow QHSE, COSHH, and company safety standards. Duties include maintaining clean and hazard-free storage areas, using appropriate PPE, and following safe handling procedures—especially for HAZMAT materials.
